»Clashing Differences« (De)
The film »Clashing Differences«: The »House of Womxn« group’s planned panel at the international women’s conference is at stake. The conference organizers contacted them: Their panel is »too white«! Unless they swiftly make it more diverse, their panel will be canceled. Their guest list must adhere to the diversity checklist as soon as possible: They need a Black woman – perhaps even two. Not to mention queer individuals, people with disabilities, and a few more Women of Colour. The new guests, a group of very diverse women along with a non-binary cameraperson, must not only spend a day and a night in the group’s remote clubhouse in Brandenburg but also have to craft a collective manifesto. It doesn’t take long until the queer-feminist group finds themselves in a daunting get-out situation, where their political differences collide during the daytime, they discover a hidden room, and unwelcome guests stand at their door at night.
Director Merle Grimme developed a concept for anti-discriminatory and inclusive production especially for this film, aimed at overcoming structures of inequality in the film industry. She will discuss all of this in a Q&A directly following the screening.
The film will be shown in German with English subtitles.
