»Mädchen am Ball«

The 1995 documentary »Mädchen am Ball« (»Girls on the Ball«) is about the only Turkish women’s football team in Europe, showing the 16- to 18-year-olds from BSC-Agrispor in training, at away matches, at home with their families in Berlin-Kreuzberg and at the places where they teach and work. The film portrays a very normal football team fighting for advancement to the national league as well as a special clique of girls navigating somewhere between tradition and self-determination, between prejudice and resistance.
