The three members of the band Meagre Martin look kindly into the camera and pose leaning forward. The front woman has dark curly shoulder-length hair, her tattooed arms crossed and is wearing a white T-shirt and light-coloured cloth trousers. Behind her on the left, a white man with a three-day beard, brown hair and a checked polo shirt looks past her. On the right, even further in the background and rather out of focus, a white man with reddish curls, a three-day beard and a dark green shirt can be seen.

Meagre Martin

This band is a real discovery! So far, they’ve mostly been playing in small Berlin bars, but that’s sure to change starting with the trio’s set at Pop-Kultur, given the high compositional level of their artful pop. In search of meaning amidst a crumbling global climate, musician and songwriter Sarah Martin founded the project in the summer of 2021 after having moved to Berlin from Boston, Massachusetts a few years prior. With a lo-fi take on Americana, Meagre Martin represents the culmination of redeeming experiences and a lyricism that describes new facets of nostalgia and suffering. Music as a means of survival and catharsis through times of uncertainty.
