Morwan

Morwan’s last album, released in 2021, was originally supposed to be slightly melancholic and a bit danceable, with the Kyiv-based musician and artist aiming to adhere to the style of his previous works: a sound based on the traditions both of his half-Ukrainian, half-Lebanese roots and dark, driving post-punk. However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine stalled his progress, leading to serious changes in the general concept of the album. Although war is the main theme, there are no specific stories or descriptions of the war itself – it remains rather abstract, told through first impressions, moods and emotions. Pain of loss, sadness, fear, hatred, anger and aggression – all of these can be heard on »Svitaye, Palaye«. And in Morwan’s live performance at Pop-Kultur.
