Sam Quealy

»The music we would all dance to during the apocalypse« – that’s how Sam Quealy’s music was once described. And even if we hope that the apocalypse takes a little longer to arrive, we’re happy to be dancing to the sounds of »the techno-pop Barbie who set Paris on fire.« As a teenager, Sam Quealy left Australia, travelled the world as a professional dancer, worked everywhere from Hong Kong to America and the Philippines and eventually settled in Paris, where she met her producer and companion Marlon Magnee – one of the creative minds and founders of the French cult band La Femme. Sam Quealy is known as a member of the voguing house Comme des Garcons, as curator of art exhibitions and as a central nightlife figure in Paris. So, there is hardly any terrain that this multifaceted artist has not yet explored: she’s a songwriter, singer, dancer, rapper, performer – and she does it all with bravura!
