T’neeya

With her music, T’neeya builds a bridge connecting people from entirely different backgrounds and cultures. Born in Douala and raised in the small Cameroonian coastal town of Limbe and now living in Berlin, the Afro-R&B artist also lets the multilingual and diverse influences of her life and childhood flow into her music and resonate in her songs: her Cameroonian father’s love of his guitar, her German mother’s love of gospel and all the Makossa and jazz records in their home. Already back in school, she was using her desk as a drum kit as she would come up with melodies and rhythms, effortlessly and seemingly out of nowhere. Her recent output has been inspiring an ever-growing audience: she has been nominated for an Afrima award, was featured in the BBC’s top playlists, has appeared in the Afrobeats documentary on Netflix, is supported by radio stations across the African continent and has played at various Afrofuture festivals – and now, to our great delight, at Pop-Kultur.
