Wa22ermann
When Wa22ermann performed at Pop-Kultur last year, it was one of the Berlin newcomer’s first major gigs. She was already championed for her set at the Çaystube, but it was clear that she had barely began her ascent. Now she’s returning to the festival – as a celebrated Berlin rapper who’s making an impact on the hip-hop scene, from TikTok to Diffus Mag. With a casual matter-of-factness and blunt punchlines, Wa22ermann talks about everyday life in Berlin in her songs, unafraid to switch between thick 808 bass and synthetic soundscapes. The Kreuzberg native doesn’t feel the need to sell an exaggerated image, instead captivating listeners with her honest lyrics. Her single »gogos« combines Jersey drill and trap with German lyrics, virtually inventing Berlin drill. True to the mantra, »Ich mach, was ich will, wie türkische Ampeln« (»I do what I want, like Turkish traffic lights«).
