Anika: »Lost Voices«
»Breathe« – this is what opens »Change«, the most recent album by Anika. Upon uttering this word, the musician opens vibrant spaces for lost voices in music as well as everything we can imagine beyond them. In this collaborative work, Anika will be joined on stage by fellow musician, Sally Whitton, and sound artist, Aude Langlois, playing, singing and manipulating pieces originally prepared for the private space: headphones. As part of the project, Anika has invited Mexican feminist film-maker, Tabatta Salinas, to provide some of the lost-voices in our society, so often hidden from view, restricted to the private sphere. Together, they encourage the audience to use the experience as a platform and a space for interpretation. What allows us to breathe? Who or what are the lost voices in our direct, as well as indirect environments? What takes our breath away?
